My Identity

Léonne Valantin – Social Science Researcher

I believe that every human being is a tripartite being, composed of body, soul, and spirit. It is through these three dimensions that I choose to introduce myself, as together they reveal the fullness of who I am.

My Roots

On a physical level, I come from Pestel, a small coastal town in southwestern Haiti. I grew up to the rhythm of its restless Caribbean waters, surrounded by the majesty of a rural landscape. Like the sea of my homeland, I resist the monotony of predetermined paths and follow the inner currents that call me toward open horizons. And like the mountains that frame my town, I strive to stand tall, whatever the circumstances and whichever way the winds may turn.

My Spiritual Foundation

On a spiritual level, my life is nourished by the living and true God. I believe in Jesus Christ, Savior of the world and sovereign Lord. God is the anchor that keeps me from drifting when my world trembles, and the lighthouse that guides my path through life's darkest nights. He is everything to me.

Social Enterprise

Transformative research & lasting social change

In 2015, I founded El Valantin Consulting, a firm registered with the Régistraire des entreprises du Québec, dedicated to transformative social research and innovation in service of social change. Through this initiative, I sought to create a space where scientific rigour meets practical engagement, to produce knowledge rooted in the realities of communities and resolutely action oriented.

Since then, I have led various projects and carried out mandates across Canada, Haiti, and French-speaking Africa, using research to develop context-specific, inclusive solutions that deliver lasting impact. More than just a means of generating income, this work is part of a personal commitment to reinvest a portion of my resources into directly supporting social initiatives in Haiti. In this way, I contribute, in my own small way, to strengthening communities and fostering locally driven dynamics of transformation.

My entrepreneurial engagement therefore goes beyond knowledge production or strategic advisory; it is embodied in a true social enterprise, conceived as a tangible lever for solidarity. My work stands at the intersection of research, community action, and social responsibility.
